Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM has registered a high signal on the relay coil for the child safety lock on the rear windows when the function is activated. The fault is intermittent, so it may have occurred earlier without being active now. It may be caused by a defective relay with a short in its coil, or by a defective control unit.
Possible causes
- Defective relay with a short circuit in the coil
- Defective control unit
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and test by activating the child safety lock from the switch on the driver's door panel, checking that the relay's LED lights
- 2Check that the relay is firmly seated and that its contacts are not corroded
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the relay have no chafing, no break and no contact with voltage
- 4If the relay is defective it should be replaced; if the fault returns after that, a workshop should check the control unit
Symptoms you may notice1
