Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM has registered that the signal on the relay coil for the child safety lock on the rear windows is missing or too low when the function is activated. The fault is intermittent, so it may have occurred earlier without being active now. The cause may be poor contact in the relay socket, a loose or defective relay, or a defective control unit.
Possible causes
- Oxidation of relay socket contacts
- Relay is loose or missing
- Defective relay with an open circuit or earth fault in the coil
- Defective control unit
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and test by activating the child safety lock from the switch on the driver's door
- 2Check that the relay is firmly seated and that the contacts in the relay socket are not oxidised
- 3Make sure the power feed to the control unit is in order
- 4If the relay is defective it should be replaced; if the fault returns after that, a workshop should check the control unit
Symptoms you may notice1
- Electric window lift does not work
