What does this fault code mean?
The tailgate opening switch is wired directly to the CEM. When the switch is pressed the CEM activates the tailgate lock motor. The fault code is set if the CEM notes that the switch was held down far too long, and then the tailgate cannot be closed or opens straight after closing.
Possible causes
- The tailgate opening switch has stuck in the activated position
- The tailgate opening switch was active for over two minutes
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the tailgate switch status in live data and press the switch; the status should change between activated and not activated
- 2If the status shows activated while the switch is not pressed, the switch or the wire from it may be faulty
- 3Check that the switch does not stick and that it springs back when released
- 4Check the wire from the switch to the CEM for chafing and loose connections
- 5Remedy what is found and check that the tailgate can be opened and closed
