What does this fault code mean?

CEM reads the signal from the Scan- button on the steering wheel. If the button has been held on for too long, the fault code is set. The radio and phone buttons on the steering wheel then do not work as they should.

    Possible causes

    • The Scan- button has stuck in the pressed position
    • Damaged Scan- button

    What you can do

    1. 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the button status in live data and check that it changes when you press and release the button
    2. 2Check that the button does not stick in the pressed position, and press it once to see that it springs back
    3. 3Clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it returns
    4. 4If the button is damaged, a workshop should replace it

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • The radio controls on the wheel are not working
    • The phone does not work

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
