What does this fault code mean?
The right-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) tells the central electronic module (CEM) that the right low beam cannot be lit. The fault may lie in the right-hand lamp housing or in the signal wire between the module and the housing, so those parts are checked first.
Possible causes
- The right-hand lamp housing is faulty
- Open circuit in the wire running from the right-hand GDL module to its lamp housing
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off and unplug the connector to the right gas discharge lamp. Check that the connectors are clean, firmly fitted and undamaged
- 2Check that the ignition module in the right-hand lamp housing is seated correctly. The ignition module works with high voltage, so leave any other work on it to a workshop
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire between the module and the right-hand lamp housing is not broken
- 4Clear the code and switch on the low beam to see whether the right lamp works
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the right-hand lamp housing or the ignition module. Replace only one part at a time
Symptoms you may notice1
- The low beam does not work
