What does this fault code mean?
The right-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) reports a fault in the signal from the actuator motor in the right headlamp. The code points to an open circuit or a short circuit in the signal wire. The high beam does not work, and only the low beam remains.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire to the right-hand actuator motor
- The signal wire to the right-hand actuator motor is short-circuited to battery voltage
- The signal wire to the right-hand actuator motor is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Activate the high beam with the ignition on. If it stays dark the fault is likely permanent; if it lights but the code was stored earlier, it is intermittent
- 2Switch the ignition off and check that the connectors at the right headlamp are clean, firmly fitted and undamaged
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire between the right headlamp and the module is not broken and has no contact with ground or voltage
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the right lamp housing and check the signal wires
Symptoms you may notice1
- The high beam does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Only the low beam works
