Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The position lamp relay must be switched on for this code to be stored. The central electronic module (CEM) then registers that the position lamp is short-circuited to battery voltage. The fault is intermittent, so it may not be present right now.
Possible causes
- The position lamp relay circuit is short-circuited to voltage supply
What you can do
- 1Check that the relay is correctly fitted and that its contacts are clean and tight
- 2Check the relay connections for chafing, loose contacts or signs that something has touched a voltage supply, especially if the electrical system has recently been worked on
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire from the relay to the lamps has no voltage
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the relay and the circuit, since intermittent faults can be hard to find
Symptoms you may notice1
- The parking lamps do not work
