Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) powers several lamps from one output: the front left and left-side parking lamps, the number plate lighting and the rear right parking lamp. Although the code is named too low signal, the CEM registers power consumption in the circuit that is too high, which points to the wiring to the lamps being shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- The signal wire to the lamps is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Switch on the parking lamps and see which lamps light. If none light, the fault is most likely permanent. If they light but the code was stored earlier, the fault is intermittent
- 2Check the parking lamp fuse and that the bulbs are firmly seated in their holders
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire to the lamps has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4Look for chafing and pinched spots on the cables to the lamps
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the circuit and the module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The parking lamps do not work
