VOLVO
CEM-8B05 - Right parking lamps. Faulty signal
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) powers the front and side parking lamps on the right and the rear parking lamp on the left from one shared output. The code means the power consumption in the circuit is too low, which can come from a broken or shorted wire, or from a faulty or missing lamp. The parking lamp relay must not be switched on for the code to be stored.
Possible causes
- Signal wire to the lamp circuit is short-circuited to battery voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire to the lamp circuit
- One or more lamps are faulty or missing
What you can do
- 1Switch on the parking lamps. If they do not light, the fault is most likely permanent. If they light but the code was stored earlier, the fault is intermittent
- 2Replace any faulty bulbs with new ones of the correct type and check that they sit properly in their holders
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire to the lamps is intact and has no contact with battery voltage. Also look for chafing along the cables
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the circuit and the module
Symptoms you may notice2
- The parking lamps do not work
- The parking lamps cannot be switched off
