- Short to supply voltage in the ignition lock or high-mounted brake light circuit
- Defective ignition lock lighting
- Defective high-mounted brake light
What you can do
- 1Find out which light is not working: the ignition lock lighting or the high-mounted brake light
- 2The high-mounted brake light should come on when the pedal is pressed and go off when it is released
- 3Check that the bulb in the affected light is intact
- 4Check the connections at the lamp and at the ignition lock lighting for oxidation and looseness
- 5Have a workshop check the circuit for voltage or open circuit and replace the lamp if it is defective
Symptoms you may notice2
- The brake lights do not come on when the pedal is pressed
