What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the reversing light and its switch. The control module has registered a low signal from the reversing light switch while a gear from 1 to 5 is engaged and the car is above a certain speed. The fault is intermittent and may not be present right now.
Possible causes
- Faulty reversing light switch
- The wire from the reversing light switch is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the reversing light comes on only when reverse gear is engaged
- 2Check that the connector at the reversing light switch is firmly fitted, clean and dry
- 3With the ignition off and the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the wire from the switch has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4If the fault comes now and then it may be intermittent. Have a workshop replace the reversing light switch if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- The reversing light is constantly lit
