Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent: the signal from the beam height control was too high on an earlier occasion but is no longer present. It may lie in the light switch module (LSM) or in the signal wire, so both need checking before any part is replaced.
Possible causes
- Defective light switch module (LSM)
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it returns; an intermittent fault can be a temporary disturbance
- 2Look for chafing or pinch damage on the signal wire between the light switch and the central electronic module (CEM)
- 3With the ignition off, move the wiring gently and see whether the fault returns when the wire moves
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no voltage when the ignition is off
- 5If the fault remains although the wire is in order, have a workshop replace the light switch module (LSM)
Symptoms you may notice1
- The beam height adjustment does not work
