What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent: the wiper relay registered a signal that was too high on an earlier occasion, but the fault is not present now. It can be caused by a damaged relay with a short in its coil, and then activating the wipers may stop working.
Possible causes
- Defective relay with a short in its coil
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it returns; an intermittent fault can be a temporary disturbance
- 2Check that the wiper relay is seated properly in its socket and that the contacts are clean
- 3Check that the fuse for the wipers is intact
- 4Activate the wipers: if they work now, the fault has occurred earlier but is not active at the moment
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the wiper relay and check the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- The windscreen wiper motor does not work
