Possible causes
- Light ring around the ignition switch shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Unlock the car with the interior lighting active and check that the light ring lights, since the fault can only be tested then
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the light ring has no contact with ground (the body) with the ignition off
- 3Look for chafing or damage on the wire around the ignition switch where it may have touched the body
- 4Clear the code once the repair is done and check that it does not come back
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop repair the wire
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- If the fault has been present for a long time, the output to the light ring is switched off until the code is cleared
