CEM-AFF2
VOLVO
CEM-AFF2 - Tire pressurement sensor. Faulty signal
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The tyre pressure sensor sends messages, but the signal has become too weak or cannot be read correctly by the central electronic module (CEM). For technical reasons the wheel concerned cannot be determined, so the fault could be on any of the four sensors. The cause may be the sensor itself, the remote receiver or low battery voltage.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the tyre pressure sensor
- Internal fault in the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) receiver
- Low battery voltage in the tyre pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Test locking and unlocking the car with the remote control. If it does not work, first check the communication with the remote receiver
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the frozen values for the fault code and note the sensor ID that was stored
- 3Compare the ID number you read with each wheel, and have a workshop replace the tyre pressure sensor that matches
- 4Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
