CEM-AFF3
VOLVO
CEM-AFF3 - Tire pressurement sensor. Faulty signal
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) has found that the signal from one of the tyre pressure sensors is too weak or cannot be interpreted. As the module cannot tell which wheel is concerned, the fault could be on any of the four. Causes can be an internal sensor fault, a fault in the keyless entry receiver (RKE) or low battery voltage in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the tyre pressure sensor
- Internal fault in the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) receiver
- Low battery voltage in the tyre pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the remote control locks and unlocks the car; if not, read the fault codes for the remote receiver first
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the frozen values and sensor ID for the fault code and compare them with the sensors in the wheels
- 3Do not replace the tyre pressure sensor yourself. Have a workshop do it after the comparison
- 4Clear the fault code and road test; if it returns, the workshop's diagnostic equipment will be needed
