System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
A tyre pressure sensor signal has become too weak or cannot be interpreted, and the central electronic module (CEM) cannot tell which of the four wheels is affected. The fault can have several causes: a sensor with an internal fault, a faulty RKE receiver or low battery voltage in one sensor. The driver sees a message in the display.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the tyre pressure sensor
- Internal fault in the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) receiver
- Low battery voltage in the tyre pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Test locking and unlocking the car with the remote control to confirm the receiver responds
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, clear old readings, read the frozen values and note the sensor ID for the fault code
- 3Have a workshop compare the ID numbers with each wheel and replace the tyre pressure sensor that caused the fault code
- 4Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- A message appears in the information display
