CEM-B100711
VOLVO
CEM-B100711 - Gear Lever Illumination. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) controls the power to the gear lever lighting and monitors the voltage in the cable. The fault code is stored when the voltage is too low, which here is caused by a short circuit to earth in the supply cable. The gear lever lighting then does not work.
Possible causes
- Supply cable shorted to earth
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2Switch the ignition off, wait a moment and switch it on again. If the gear selector lighting comes on, the fault may have been temporary
- 3With the ignition off, check the cable to the gear selector lighting for chafing, pinching and loose connections
- 4With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check whether the supply cable has contact with earth (the body)
- 5Remedy the short circuit if it is found and clear the fault code. If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Gear selector lighting does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The output is switched off for the rest of the drive cycle and comes back on once the ignition has been switched off and on
