CEM-B100A11 - Fuel pump authorisation. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (4)
What does this fault code mean?
CEM monitors the voltage on the supply wire feeding the fuel pump. The fault code is stored when the voltage on the signal cable is too low, which here is caused by a short circuit to earth. The engine then does not start.
Possible causes
- Signal cable to the fuel pump shorted to earth
- Fuel pump relay is faulty
- Blown fuse
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuel pump fuse is intact and replace it if it has blown
- 2Switch the ignition on and listen for the fuel pump running briefly. If you cannot hear it, the fault is likely in the supply
- 3Check that the fuel pump relay is firmly seated and undamaged, and replace it if you suspect a fault
- 4With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check whether the fuel pump signal cable has contact with earth (the body)
- 5Remedy the short circuit if it is found and clear the fault code. If the engine still does not start, have a workshop check the control module and the fuel pump
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
