What does this fault code mean?
When a new remote key is programmed, the central electronic module (CEM) verifies that the key is received. The fault code is stored when the key codes are not received correctly. It can also be stored if something, such as a finger, has been pushed into the starter unit.
Possible causes
- Temporary interference nearby
- Damaged remote key
- Incorrect communication from the ignition lock antenna unit (IAU)
What you can do
- 1Try a different key that belongs to the car. If it works, a workshop can add the key that does not work
- 2Remove other keys and objects from the vicinity when you try, since temporary interference can cause the fault
- 3Check that nothing has been pushed into the starter unit and that it is clean
- 4If none of the keys work, the ignition lock control unit or the antenna unit is probably faulty, and a workshop needs to replace it
Symptoms you may notice4
- The starter motor does not turn over, with either no click or a clicking sound when starting is attempted
- The engine does not start, and starting may be unreliable, at times or all the time
- A message appears in the information display
