What does this fault code mean?
The CEM has been sent a message by the ignition lock control unit (SCU) or the ignition lock antenna unit (IAU) that it is not programmed. The two units must be linked to each other through codes for the car to start, so the fault must be dealt with before the car can be started.
Possible causes
- Ignition lock control unit (SCU) is not programmed
- Ignition lock antenna unit (IAU) is not programmed
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Programming the ignition lock and the antenna unit is a workshop task. Have a workshop program them with the right equipment
- 3If programming fails after several attempts, the control unit may need replacing, which is also a workshop task
- 4Clear the fault code only once programming is finished, then road test the car
Symptoms you may notice4
- The starter motor does not turn over
- The engine does not start, or starts only unreliably
- Amber warning symbol and text message in the display
- The immobiliser warning light does not show the correct status
