What does this fault code mean?
The steering column lock's lock bolt does not reach its locked position, as reported by the steering column lock control unit (SCL). The fault code is stored when the central electronic module (CEM) has requested locking after the key was removed. The steering lock may then fail to lock, and starting can be affected.
Possible causes
- Mechanical fault in the steering lock
- Internal fault in the steering column lock control unit (SCL)
What you can do
- 1The steering lock is part of the steering. Do not drive the car if the wheel cannot be turned or locked as it should; have a workshop check it first
- 2Test with the car stationary: key in, the lock should release and the wheel turn; key out, the lock should engage and the wheel stay still
- 3If the function is correct, the fault was probably temporary. Clear the fault code and check that it does not return
- 4If the steering lock does not work as it should, have a workshop check or replace it, since it is a mechanical part
