What does this fault code mean?
The steering column lock control unit (SCL) cannot determine where the lock bolt is. The fault code is stored when the position cannot be determined. It can affect both the steering lock and starting, and the lock's control unit is the likely cause.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the steering column lock control unit (SCL)
What you can do
- 1The steering lock is part of the steering. Do not drive the car if the wheel does not lock or turn as it should; have a workshop check it first
- 2Test with the car stationary: key in, the lock should release and the wheel turn; key out, it should lock
- 3If the steering lock does not work as it should, the control unit for the steering lock needs replacing, which a workshop does
- 4If no fault is found, the fault may have been present earlier and is no longer active. Clear the fault code and check that it does not return
Symptoms you may notice2
- The starter motor does not turn over
- A message appears in the information display
