What does this fault code mean?
Although the fault code concerns the adjustment of the left headlamp, it relates to the cornering lamp, which lights up tight bends at low speed. The fault is stored when the supply wire to the lamp is shorted to earth or has a break. The lamp then does not work.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to earth in the supply wire to the cornering lamp
- Break in the supply wire between the cornering lamp and the left main headlamp control unit (LHCU)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the headlamps are intact
- 2Check that the cornering lamp in the lamp housing, towards the front of the grille, is secure and not broken
- 3With the ignition off, check the wire to the lamp for chafing, pinching and loose connections, especially at the lamp housing
- 4With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check whether the supply wire to the lamp is broken or has contact with earth (the body)
- 5Remedy the fault and clear the code. Switch the ignition off and on to check the lamp. If the fault remains, have a workshop check the control unit
Symptoms you may notice2
- The cornering light in the left headlamp does not work
- A lamp fault message appears in the display, together with a warning symbol
