Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The position sensors for the headlamp adjustment are not calibrated. The fault code is stored when the central electronic module (CEM) checks them with the ignition on or the engine running, with the car stationary. The side and height adjustment then do not work correctly.
Possible causes
- Position sensors are not calibrated
What you can do
- 1Calibrating the position sensors is a workshop task that needs the workshop's equipment. Have a workshop do it
- 2After replacing the control unit or any position sensor, the calibration must be redone. Ask the workshop whether it was checked after such work
- 3Clear the fault code only once calibration is finished, then check that the headlamp adjustment works
- 4Check the direction of the light after calibration, since a misaligned headlamp can dazzle other road users
Symptoms you may notice3
- Headlamp side adjustment does not follow the steering wheel correctly, or does not work
- Headlamp height adjustment is wrong or does not work
- A message appears in the information display
What the fault can affect2
- The light range is used as a fixed setting
- Side adjustment stops in the straight-ahead position
