What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) runs the washer fluid pump when the steering wheel module (SWM) requests washing. The fault shows that the windscreen washer switch has been active for longer than it should, which suggests it has stuck in the active position. Windscreen washing is then switched off.
Possible causes
- The windscreen wash control has jammed in the on position
What you can do
- 1Read off and note the code, clear it and check whether it returns when you use the windscreen washer
- 2Press the washer control a few times and check that it returns fully to its rest position and does not stay down
- 3Check that the washer fluid level is sufficient and that the fuses for the washer pump are intact
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the windscreen washer switch in live data and check that it changes from off to on and back when you wash
- 5With a diagnostic tool, activate the washer fluid pump and listen for it to start and stop
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the washer control and the steering wheel module
