Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM runs the washer pump by switching one of two pump relays in the passenger compartment fuse box, using a ground connection on the control line. The fault shows that the control line to the rear window washer relay is shorted to voltage, so the CEM cannot control the relay correctly. The fault is checked when rear window washing is activated.
Possible causes
- The control signal wire to the relay is shorted to voltage
- Damaged relay
What you can do
- 1Read off and note the code, clear it and run the rear window washer to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses for the washer pumps are intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the rear washer pump with the tool and listen for the pump to start
- 4Use a multimeter (ignition off, relay connector unplugged) to check that the control wire is not at voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the relay and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- The rear window washer does not work
