What does this fault code mean?
The CEM communicates with the rain sensor. The fault shows that one of the rain sensor's internal components is not working, so the automatic windscreen wiping cannot be controlled correctly.
Possible causes
- Damaged rain sensor
- The rain sensor is not firmly attached to the glass
- Crack in the glass near the rain sensor
- Stone chip in the glass near the rain sensor
What you can do
- 1Read off and note the code, clear it and check whether it returns when you drive with the rain sensor active
- 2Check that the rain sensor is firmly attached to the glass and has good contact with both the glass and its cushion
- 3Look for cracks or stone chips in the glass near the rain sensor
- 4Check that the fuses for the windscreen wipers are intact
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the rain sensor

- If the fault occurs a while after the rain sensor is activated, the wipers go to top speed
