CEM-B10AE11
VOLVO
CEM-B10AE11 - Left Main Beam Shutter. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) switches on the high beam and uses a solenoid to move the shield that limits the bi-xenon lamp to dipped beam. The fault shows that the current in the solenoid supply circuit is too high, which points to a short to ground. The fault is checked when the high beam is activated.
Possible causes
- The supply circuit to the shield solenoid of the bi-xenon light is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read off and note the code, clear it and switch on the high beam to see whether the fault returns
- 2Check that the fuses for the high beam are intact
- 3Check that the connectors at the left headlight are fully engaged and not corroded, and that the cable is not chafed
- 4Use a multimeter (ignition off, connector unplugged) to check that the supply wire to the left headlight solenoid has no connection to ground
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the high beam with the tool and check whether the left headlight responds
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the headlight and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- The high beam does not work
- Automatic high beam dimming (AHB) does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The high beam output is reduced
