CEM-B10BB01 - Front/Rear Axle Level Sensor. General Failure Information. General electrical failure
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) supplies the front and rear level sensors, which measure the height of the car and are used to adjust the headlights. The fault shows that the supply to the sensors is shorted to voltage or ground. The sensors share a supply inside the CEM, so the fault can affect both.
Possible causes
- The supply to the front level sensor is shorted to voltage or ground
- The supply to the rear level sensor is shorted to voltage or ground
What you can do
- 1Read off and note the code, clear it and check whether it returns with the engine running
- 2Check that the fuses for the headlight level control are intact
- 3Check that the connectors at the front and rear level sensors are fully engaged and not corroded
- 4Use a multimeter (ignition off, connectors unplugged) to check that the supply wires have no connection to ground or battery positive
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the sensor values in live data and check that they change when the front and rear of the car are pressed down and released
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensors and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice4
- Headlight side adjustment does not follow the steering wheel
- Headlight height adjustment does not work or is set wrongly
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
- Automatic high beam dimming (AHB) does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The headlight beam stays at a fixed level
- Side adjustment stays fixed straight ahead
