VOLVO
CEM-B10BE13 - Solar Sensor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit open
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM reads the signal from the sun sensor, which senses the strength of the sunlight and is used to control the cabin temperature. The fault shows that the signal wire from the sun sensor is broken, so the climate system receives no signal about the strength of the sun.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged sun sensor
What you can do
- 1Read off and note the code, clear it and check whether it returns when you drive in sunlight
- 2Check that the fuses for the climate system are intact
- 3Check that the connector to the sun sensor is fully engaged and not corroded
- 4Use a multimeter (ignition off, connector unplugged) to check that the signal wire from the sun sensor has no break to the control module
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the sun sensor value in live data and check that it changes when the sensor is exposed to strong light
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sun sensor and its wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- The cabin temperature does not drop in strong sunlight
- The cabin temperature does not match the setting selected
