What does this fault code mean?
The CEM powers the seat belt reminder lamp. The code is stored when the module detects that the signal from the output is too high. This can be caused by the signal cable having contact with supply voltage, or by an open circuit in the cable. The fault usually shows up as the seat belt reminder lamp being lit all the time.
Possible causes
- The signal cable has contact with supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal cable
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, then check whether the lamp lights again after a new driving cycle
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Look for chafing and pinch damage on the wiring to the lamp
- 4Check that the connectors in the wiring are secure and not oxidised
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The seat belt reminder lamp is lit all the time
What the fault can affect3
- The output switches off during the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- If the fault remains, the output switches off permanently after 100 driving cycles in which the fault was detected
