CEM-B10C011 - Fuel Pump Power Supply. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) controls the voltage supply to the fuel pump and monitors the voltage on the cable. The code is stored when the module detects that the supply cable to the pump is short-circuited to ground. The fuel pump may then lack voltage, and the engine does not start, either sometimes or always.
Possible causes
- The fuel pump supply cable is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact, especially the one for the fuel pump. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Switch the ignition on and listen for a short hum from the tank when the pump should start
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply cable to the fuel pump has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pump and listen for it to start
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring between the control module and the fuel pump
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine does not start, either sometimes or always
