CEM-B10C012 - Fuel Pump Power Supply. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM monitors the voltage supply to the fuel pump and the voltage on the cable. The code is stored when the supply cable to the pump has contact with supply voltage, which can stop the pump from working as it should. The engine then does not start, either sometimes or always.
Possible causes
- The fuel pump supply cable has contact with supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact, especially the one for the fuel pump. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Look for chafing on the fuel pump wiring, especially where it may have touched a sharp edge
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether the supply cable to the pump has voltage when the pump should not be switched on
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pump and listen for it to start
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine does not start, either sometimes or always
