What does this fault code mean?
On cars with xenon dipped beams, the CEM powers both front position lights through a common output. The code is stored when the signal from the output is too low. One cause can be the supply cable being short-circuited to ground. The side marker or position lights then do not work, and a yellow warning symbol with a message may appear.
Possible causes
- The supply cable for the position lights is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the lamps are secure and that the connectors in the lamp housings are clean and dry
- 3Look for chafing on the supply cable, especially where it may rest against the body
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply cable to the position lights has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the position lights and check that both lamps light
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module output and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice3
- Side marker lights or position lights do not work
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- The bulb failure warning in the instruments comes on or behaves abnormally
