What does this fault code mean?
On cars with xenon dipped beams, both front position lights run through a common output from the CEM. The code is stored when the signal from the output is too high. The cause may be poor contact in the connections, an open circuit in the signal cable, or the cable having contact with supply voltage. The position lights then do not work, and a yellow warning symbol with a message may appear.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, oxidation or looseness in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- The signal cable has contact with supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the connectors in the cable to the position lights are secure and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether the cable to the position lights has voltage when the lights are switched off
- 4Look for chafing and pinch damage on the cable from the control module to the lamps
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module output and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice3
- Side marker lights or position lights do not work
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- The bulb failure warning in the instruments comes on or behaves abnormally
