CEM-B10E712 - Relay 15-feed. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System

Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The 15 feed is the supply that follows the ignition, and the CEM controls the output signal to its relay. The code is stored when the output to the relay coil has contact with supply voltage. The engine may then have difficulty starting or not start at all, and the fault shows up sometimes or always.
Possible causes
- The cable has contact with supply voltage
- The relay for the 15 feed in the engine compartment relay and fuse box is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the relay for the 15 feed is seated firmly in the relay and fuse box and is not corroded
- 3Look for chafing on the cable to the relay
- 4Use a multimeter to check whether the cable to the relay coil has voltage when the ignition is off
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the relay and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine fails to start
- Engine does not start, either sometimes or always
What the fault can affect3
- The output switches off in the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- If the fault remains, the output switches off permanently after 100 driving cycles
- Clearing the fault codes resets the output
