VOLVO
CEM-B10EF12 - Sunroof speed output. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM talks to the sun roof module (SRM) and monitors the speed signal sent to it. The code is stored when the speed signal circuit for the sunroof is too high, which is caused by the signal cable touching supply voltage. The automatic closing of the sunroof then does not work. The code can also be stored in cars without a sunroof, since the speed signal is also used for other functions, such as the taximeter in taxis.
Possible causes
- The signal cable touches supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Look for chafing on the cable to the sunroof and check that the connectors are secure
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the speed value follows the speedometer while driving
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Auto-close function of the sunroof does not work
What the fault can affect3
- The output switches off in the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- If the fault remains, the output switches off permanently after 100 driving cycles
- Clearing the fault codes and starting a new driving cycle resets the output
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
