What does this fault code mean?
The CEM monitors the link to the ignition lock control module (SCU). The key-in switch is expected to close when the remote key goes in, but the SCU cannot confirm the key is in the ignition within the set time. The fault comes from inside the SCU, and the engine then does not start.
Possible causes
- A fault inside the ignition lock control module (SCU)
What you can do
- 1Note the code, clear it and start the car several times to see whether the fault returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the key-in switch status changes when the remote key is inserted and removed
- 3Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop reprogram or replace the ignition lock control module
