Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM supplies the left front position light straight from one output. The code is stored when the signal from that output is too high. The cause may be poor contact in the connections, a break in the signal cable, or the cable touching supply voltage. The left front parking light then does not work.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, oxidation or looseness in the connections
- Break in the signal cable
- The signal cable touches supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the connections to the left front position light are secure and not oxidised
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether the signal cable to the light has voltage when the light is switched off
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable is not broken, for example by checking continuity between two contact points
- 5Look for chafing on the cable, especially where it may have been pinched
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- Left front parking light does not work
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- The bulb failure warning in the instruments comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- The function switches off permanently after 100 driving cycles in which the fault was detected
- Clearing the fault codes resets the output
