Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM feeds the right front position light directly from an output. The code is stored when the output signal becomes too high. Causes can be poor contact, a break in the signal cable, or the cable touching supply voltage. The right front parking light then goes out or does not work.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, oxidation or looseness in the connections
- Break in the signal cable
- The signal cable touches supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the connections to the right front position light are secure and not oxidised
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether the supply cable to the light has voltage when the light is switched off
- 4Look for chafing and pinch damage on the cable, especially where it may have been pressed against the body
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- Right front parking light does not work
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- The bulb failure warning in the instruments comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- After 100 driving cycles with the fault, the function is switched off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes resets the output
