Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
8 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM feeds the left rear position light directly from an output. The code is stored when the output signal becomes too high. The cause may be poor contact in the connections, a break in the signal cable, or contact with supply voltage. The left tail light then does not work, and a yellow warning symbol may appear.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, oxidation or looseness in the connections
- Break in the signal cable
- The signal cable has contact with supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the connections in the tail light circuit are secure and not oxidised
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether the cable to the left rear position light has voltage when the light is off
- 4Look for chafing on the cable, especially where it may have been pinched
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- Left tail light is out
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- Bulb failure warning is missing from the instruments
What the fault can affect2
- The function switches off permanently after 100 driving cycles in which the fault was detected
- Clearing the fault codes resets the output
