What does this fault code mean?
The heartbeat sensor is part of the alarm system and is used to detect movement in the cabin. The code is stored when no communication is received from the sensor for a set time, which may be caused by a break in the supply, the ground lead or the signal cable. The alarm then cannot use the sensor.
Possible causes
- Break in the supply voltage to the heartbeat sensor
- Break in the ground lead to the heartbeat sensor
- Break in the signal cable
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the heartbeat sensor is intact. Its location is in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the connector to the heartbeat sensor is secure and clean
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply cable to the sensor has voltage and is not broken
- 4Check that the ground lead to the sensor is secure and not oxidised
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor status in live data and check that a valid value is shown
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and replace the sensor if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The alarm does not respond to the sensor
