What does this fault code mean?
The CEM feeds the high mounted brake light directly from an output. The code is stored when the supply cable has a break, and the high mounted brake light then does not work.
Possible causes
- Break in the supply cable
What you can do
- 1Check that the brake lights work by having someone watch them while you press the brake. Brake lights matter for road safety, so fix the fault promptly
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply cable is not broken, for example by checking continuity between two contact points
- 4Look for chafing and pinch damage on the cable, especially where it may have been bent or clamped
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module output
Symptoms you may notice1
- Tail light or brake light does not work
What the fault can affect2
- After 100 driving cycles with the fault, the function switches off permanently
- Clearing the fault codes resets the output
