What does this fault code mean?
The high mounted brake light is fed directly from an output on the CEM. The code is stored when the supply cable has a break or is shorted to supply voltage. The brake light then does not work at that height.
Possible causes
- A break or short to supply voltage in the cable
What you can do
- 1Check that the brake lights work by having someone watch them while you press the brake. Brake lights matter for road safety, so fix the fault promptly
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether the supply cable has voltage when the brake is not pressed
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable is not broken, for example by checking continuity between two contact points
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module output
Symptoms you may notice1
- Tail light or brake light does not work
