What does this fault code mean?
The CEM powers the luggage compartment lighting and switches it on by grounding an output. The code is stored when the voltage on the output to the lighting is too high, which is caused by a short circuit to supply voltage.
Possible causes
- The output to the luggage compartment lighting is short-circuited to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Open the tailgate and check whether the luggage compartment light comes on
- 3Look for chafing and pinch damage on the wiring to the luggage compartment light, especially where it may have been clamped
- 4Use a multimeter to check whether the wiring to the light has voltage when the light should be off
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the luggage compartment lighting and check that it lights
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module output and the wiring
