CEM-B112B07 - Steering wheel module. General Failure Information. Mechanical Failures
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel module (SWM) continuously sends information to the CEM. The code is stored when a lever for the turn signals or the windshield wiper has a mechanical fault, for example one lever stuck in the activated position. The turn signals, wipers, washer or trip computer may then work poorly.
Possible causes
- Damaged lever for the turn signals
- Damaged lever for the windshield wiper
- A steering column lever has jammed in the on position
What you can do
- 1Check that no lever or button on the steering wheel is pressed in or stuck, since the code can then be set without a real fault
- 2Try each turn signal and wiper lever and note which function does not work as it should
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the lever status in live data and check that each position changes when the lever is moved
- 4Note the code, clear it and drive the car to see whether it returns. If it does not and you notice no fault, no action is needed
- 5If the fault returns and a lever is broken, have a workshop replace the lever, or the steering wheel module (SWM) if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice5
- Windshield wiper does not work
- Windshield washer does not work
- Front turn signal does not work
- Rear turn signal does not work
- Trip computer has other problems
