What does this fault code mean?
The CEM receives information about the light conditions from the twilight sensor and uses it to set the brightness of the symbols and instrument lighting. Two preset levels exist: a daytime level and a night-time level. The code is stored when the sensor has an internal short circuit, and then the instrument and button lighting does not work.
Possible causes
- Internal short circuit in the twilight sensor
What you can do
- 1Note the code, clear it and check whether it returns after a drive
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the twilight sensor value in live data and check that it changes when the light conditions change
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check and, if needed, replace the twilight sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Instrument and button lighting does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The control module assumes night mode for the interior lighting
- The brightness of the instrument lighting is set to night mode
