CEM-B113187 - Wiper motor module. Bus Signal / Message Failures. Missing message
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The Central Electronic Module (CEM) communicates with the wiper motor module (WMM) over the LIN bus, but the messages between them are missing. The fault is stored when the module detects that this communication is blocked.
Possible causes
- Short circuit or open circuit in the LIN network between the rain sensor, the wiper motor module and the CEM
- Short circuit or open circuit in the LIN network to the movement sensor, the heartbeat sensor and the siren
- Internal fault in one of the units on the LIN network
- Leaking battery acid in the siren disturbs the LIN communication
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check that supply and earth to the units on the LIN bus are good, and that the connectors are secure and free from corrosion
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the LIN network wires are not short-circuited to earth or battery voltage
- 4If there is a fault code in the same control module ending in 86 or 88, fault-trace that first as it points to a fault on the LIN bus
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the LIN bus and the units connected to it
Symptoms you may notice1
- Windscreen wipers do not work
