CEM-B113C11 - Hazard switch illumination. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The Central Electronic Module (CEM) supplies power to the illumination in the hazard light switch. The fault is stored when the voltage from the output is too low.
Possible causes
- The supply wire to the illumination is short-circuited to earth
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Switch on the hazard lights and see whether the switch illumination lights, then clear the code and road test
- 3Check the wire from the control module to the switch for chafing, pinching and loose connectors
- 4Disconnect the connector at the switch and use a multimeter to check that the wire has no contact with earth (the body)
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- Button illumination in the hazard light switch does not work
- No clear symptoms for the driver beyond this
What the fault can affect3
- The output switches off during the driving cycle in which the fault is detected
- If the fault remains, the output is switched off permanently after 100 driving cycles where the fault was detected
- Erasing the fault codes or starting a new driving cycle resets the output
